The Seafarer by Conor McPherson
Nominated for a Tony Award for best play of 2008, The Seafarer is set in a coastal town north of Dublin, where a mysterious man joins a quartet of raffish, hard-drinking Irishmen on Christmas Eve for a high-stakes game of poker.  The men soon realize that the stranger is no ordinary man, and they find themselves betting to save their souls.  Directed by Jerry Montoya and starring Kurt Johnson, John Lamb, Kevin Karrick, David Silberman.

PLEASE NOTE: The Seafarer is for mature audiences 16 and older, it contains strong language and mature situations.

MEET THE CAST OF THE SEAFARER

Phil Cowan
For 18 years, Phil Cowan, with his partner Paul Robins, hosted the number one morning radio show on Y92.  The duo also hosted The Discovery Channel's The Next Step and Fox Television's The Wilton North Report. The Seafarer marks Phil’s return to B Street Theatre, where he previously appeared in Paul RobinsThe Good Guy, A Couple of Blaguards and The Melville Brothers.



Kurt Johnson
Kurt has been a regular at B Street Theatre since completing his 1993-94 apprentice program.  He is currently a member of the B Street Theatre Acting Company and, in addition to directing Betty the Yeti, F-Stop and Vigil with Timothy Busfield, Kurt has also acted in numerous productions including Below the Belt, Three Days of Rain, The Cocktail Hour, National Anthems, While We Were Bowling, Lobby Hero, Lune Pronounced Loony, Rabbit Hole, Doubt, Escanaba in Da Moonlight and The Swan.  He has performed locally with Sacramento Music Circus and Sacramento Theatre Company.  Kurt works in commercials, industrial videos, radio voice-overs and film.  He also teaches acting and improv classes locally.

Kevin Karrick
Kevin Karrick has been  acting  and directing on and off for over twenty years. He returns to B Street Theatre after appearing in last year’s A Skull in Connemara.  Other recent credits include Toby in the North Bay Shakespeare production of Twelfth Night and as Andre in the San Francisco and New York premiers of Adam Bock’s Five Flights. Other favorite feature roles include John Proctor in The Crucible at the SF Playhouse, Jack Tanner in Shaw’s Man And Superman with Berkeley’s Shotgun Players, and Tom in San Jose Stage Company’s Roses Don’t Grow Here No More. While in New York he was able to appear in an episode of Law and Order and basically have a wonderful time.


John Lamb
John has been heavily involved in the B Street Theatre School Tours (formerly Fantasy Theatre), writing, directing and or acting in over 30 productions in the last ten years.  Former roles on the B Street Theatre stage include Brother Brightbee, et al. in The Book of Liz, Brent in While We Were Bowling and Johnny in Juno and the Paycock.  He has acted in the B Street Theatre Family Series productions Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, The Canterville Ghost, The Boxcar Children, The Princess and The Pauper, Johnny Tremain, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes,The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Rumpelstiltskin.  John has also directed some of B Street Theatre's biggest hits including Women Who Steal, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and The Big Bang.


David Silberman
A company member, David's recent B Street work includes Underneath the Lintel, Sarah, Sarah, The Cocktail Hour and for the Family Series, Johnny Tremain and Treasure Island.  He just completed a production of On Golden Pond at Foothill Theatre Company.  For the Sacramento Theatre Company, David appeared in Of Mice and Men, Picnic, All My Sons, Driving Miss Daisy, The Grapes Of Wrath, T Bone N Weasel and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.  Regional theatre credits at GEVA Theatre Center in Rochester, NY: Broadway Bound, Twelve Angry Men, Inherit The Wind, Picasso At The Lapin Agile and Ben Franklin in 1776; TheatreWorks (Palo Alto): The Last Night Of Ballyhoo; Capital Stage Company: Humble Boy, Shakespeare Santa Fe: Much Ado About Nothing; and a stint at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre in Ashland.
