The Plan
True to the B Street legacy, our new facility will be more than a typical theatre. Located at 27th Street and Capital Avenue, the B Street Performing Arts Complex will be the cultural cornerstone of the Midtown neighborhood’s revitalization.
The Design
- A 40,000 square foot complex to house two theatres with a total of 615 seats, lobby bistro/coffee bar, and theatre company space owned by B Street
- Forty feet tall at its highest point
- Over 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail facing Capitol Avenue
- The technical capabilities to create seemingly magical entrances of actors and props
The Proscenium Theatre (Sutter Children's Theatre) will...
- Have 365 seats (current capacity is 112 seats)
- Have the trademark B Street intimacy with exceptional sight lines from any seat
- Allow for more subscriptions, which are at capacity now
- Accommodate more than 300 Family Series performances each year, which will be attended by as many as 70,000 children
The Thrust Theatre will...
- Have 250 seats (current capacity is 200 seats)
- Have the trademark B Street intimacy with exceptional sight lines from any seat
- Have an extended upper stage area for staging flexibility
- Allow for more subscriptions, which are nearing capacity
