Is there class on the weekend? Classes are taught Monday - Friday. There is no class on the weekend
Why does the camp end on a Monday? Every session will have a FINAL SHOWCASE on the last Monday of class. The B Street Theatre has a very busy performance schedule and Monday evening is oneof the few times when the stage is consistently available. Note: we will meetin the afternoon (approx. 4:00pm) for a final dress rehearsal and FINAL SHOWCASE that evening. We will NOT MEET IN THE MORNING on that last day of class.
Is lunch provided? Each student should BRING A BAG LUNCH. We will eat around noon each day in the park adjacent to the B Street Theatre. We will also have a snack break in the morning. A SNACK WILL BE PROVIDED by the B Street Theatre.
What will they learn? Students will be exposed to a variety of theatrical training methods: skills based exercises, improvisation, scene-study, physical and vocal warm-ups, rehearsal techniques, memorization, performance in a final showcase, and muchmore. Do we need to audition? Auditions are not required for the Studio for Young Actors Summer Program. All skill levels welcome. We make an effort to pair students appropriately in regards to age and skill level.
Who will teach the classes? Classes will be taught by B Street Theatre regular Kurt Johnson. Depending on class size, he will have the assistance of other local, professional actors/teachers.
